#7 — This post is the seventh in our “Meet our new hire” series, where we introduce you to the latest additions to our team here at Blank. It’s important for us to keep you in the loop with what’s going on behind the scenes and give you a feel of who we are.

We’re pleased to introduce you to Julián Ariel Martínez as our latest hire. Julián has joined the team as a full stack developer. He comes from Argentina and has a wide breadth of industry experience that we are sure is going to make an excellent addition to our team. Needless to say, we are very excited to see how he has a positive impact on our project in the coming weeks.

Keep reading to find out more about Julián, his position and his thoughts on Blank and the cryptocurrency space in general.

What’s your job position?

I’ve joined the team as a full stack developer. I’ll mostly be focused on UI implementations for the Blank browser extension. I’m excited to be able to have an impact on what our users will see and interact with every time they use the Blank Wallet.

How long have you worked as a full stack developer?

I’ve been working as a full stack developer since I finished secondary school in 2013. Since then, I’ve worked on a wide range of different projects and got my degree in computer engineering last year. I began working on front-end development with HTML and CCS and moved on to React, Angular and other UI frameworks. On the back-end side of things, I began working with C# and progressed on to Node.js.

Which projects have you worked on before?

Before joining Blank, I spent time working on a variety of different projects. Notably, I worked for Volkswagen where I built software used to maintain and monitor production processes. I’ve also worked a lot with ERP software, which offers companies a complete solution for process management. Additionally, I’ve worked for one of Latin America’s biggest internet service providers and built software to manage working protocols and network automatization.

My time spent working in various industries has given me a solid foundation that I’m looking to expand upon by delving into the cryptocurrency space. I’m really looking forward to applying what I’ve learned to this space and building something great at Blank.

When did you first get involved in crypto?

I first got involved with cryptocurrency in early 2020, right around the market crash caused by the start of the pandemic. Most of my free time was spent researching blockchain technology and cryptocurrency in general. After experimenting with cryptocurrency, I quickly went on to learn the basics, such as how smart contracts work and the importance of having your private keys.

Initially I was involved mostly from an investment perspective but became a firm believer in cryptocurrency and its fundamentals after learning more about the technology. I was drawn in closer by Ethereum’s roadmap and the DeFi space and got really excited about working with blockchain and began experimenting further.

What do you like the most about crypto?

It was really mind-blowing as a developer to see the limitless possibilities that exist within blockchain. There really are endless real-world applications that projects can have. The space is full of so many great ideas and I truly believe this is just the tip of the iceberg. Everything from the prospect of decentralisation and financial freedom to DApps, NFT’s and blockchain-based games really excite me and I can’t wait to see what is coming next.

What made you interested in Blank?

Blank immediately stood out to me as a game changer. It’s no secret that it’s getting harder and harder to maintain your privacy in today’s world and finding a solution to this problem is critical. I’m completely on board with Blank’s mission to integrate complex systems designed to solve a serious problem with a seamless user experience.

I found out about Blank through some of the project’s partners and saw it as a great chance to launch my career in cryptocurrency. The opportunity to join a team with such amazing partners and use my background to work on something I truly believe in was perfect for me. I’m very glad to be here.

Why do you think privacy matters on blockchains?

Privacy is one of the most basic tenets of our society and sadly most people don’t realise that until their privacy is taken away. If cryptocurrency is to see continued adoption, it’s essential that the technology meets the needs of society.

Technology on blockchain is moving so quickly and I feel that users should not have to make compromises to stay private. In today’s world, technology has sadly stripped away a lot of our privacy and it’s so important that technology serves users instead of leaving them open to security and privacy risks.

Do you have any predictions on where crypto will be 5 years from now?

First and foremost, I hope that dog coins are a distant memory (or nightmare). Seriously speaking, I hope that we see blockchain integrated into many aspects of our daily lives. Once problems such as energy consumption, transaction speeds and cross-chain integration are solved then the possibilities are truly endless. I’m sure that we’ll see blockchain technology take centre stage in many of our daily lives.

Right now, cryptocurrency is fuelled by speculation-based cycles of hype. Big price fluctuations can scare some people away and I believe that we can show these people the possibilities that blockchain brings and that it is here to stay. The future is certainly bright.

Parting thoughts.

Ultimately, I’m really looking forward to working on Blank. It’s a dream to be able to work on UI that so many users will interact with on a daily basis. I hope that we can all look back in a few years and see the great work that we’ve done and the positive changes that we made. I’m very excited for the upcoming release!

About Blank Wallet

Blank is the most private, non-custodial Ethereum browser extension wallet.

Blank allows the user to easily interact with privacy smart contracts on Ethereum to hide the amounts and the origins of cryptocurrency held in a decentralized, non-custodial, and frictionless manner.

Blank solves the problem of privacy in crypto transactions. Each time you want to make a withdrawal, Blank will create a new wallet address for you with the amount of crypto you requested. This address originates from the smart contract, where everyone’s funds are pooled. All of this is achieved using cryptographic proofs to ensure that the user cannot be linked with the original depositing address.

With crypto transactions increasing, on-chain transaction privacy is being highly discussed to keep you safe from exposing yourself. Blank has developed a system that adds the ultimate protective layer to your crypto transactions while facilitating every function that other wallets offer.

Anyone can easily install Blank and start reaping the privacy benefits in no time at all. Besides the smart contract functionality, Blank wallet offers a higher level of privacy due to Tor integration. Upcoming functionality includes DeFi web3 integrations as well as support for Metamask Snaps Plugins to allow for seamless connectivity and usage.
