#14 — This is the fourteenth post in our “Meet our new hire” series, where we introduce you to the latest additions to our team here at BlockWallet. It’s important for us to keep you updated with what’s going on behind the scenes and let you know who we are.

We’d like to introduce our latest hire, Felipe Lencastre! He joined the BlockWallet team as our Human Resources lead AKA Chief Vibe Officer. Felipe will be working on developing and executing human resource strategies to support BlockWallet’s overall strategy.

Read more to find out about Felipe, his position at BlockWallet, and his thoughts on cryptocurrency.

What’s your job position?

I’m the Chief Vibe Officer and I’m responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. More specifically, my activities fall in the areas of recruitment, talent management, contracts, compensation and benefits, and team well-being.

How long have you worked in Human Resources?

I worked with Human Resources for a couple of years at a Canadian startup, doing some work with recruitment strategies, project coordination, technical recruitment, and strategic partnerships. I also had my own social media marketing agency where I had to do administrative processes related to human resources.

Which projects have you worked on before?

I started out my career in a social media marketing agency where I was a founder together with two other partners. We were able to make some noise in the local market and have a profitable business that was relatively easy to maintain. While managing the business, I joined a Canadian startup, called SkipTheDishes, I worked there with HR until they got relatively big. After that, I merged my previous marketing business with a larger agency where I worked as an Account Executive and in Business Development. In this position, I’ve had the pleasure of working with clients like ScotiaBank, GoodLife Fitness, and Red Bull.

When did you first get involved in crypto?

I first got into crypto about 4–5 years ago when two of my business partners at the time were chatting about it and starting to trade

Not gonna lie, for a couple of years I wasn’t involved as much in Crypto until 2020 came around, and I got back into it. Last year I started to immerse myself in DeFi to become more familiar with the industry.

What made you interested in BlockWallet?

I was interested in BlockWallet because of the product and how they prioritize privacy over everything. I truly believe we’ll succeed in what we’re building, and we have an amazing team with great energy + culture to make it happen.

Why do you think privacy matters on blockchains?

I believe privacy is a basic right for every human being. And with the web3 revolution, it’s become more important than ever to prevent digital theft and to protect our physical safety and financial security.

Do you have any predictions on where crypto will be 5 years from now?

I think the world is waking up to the dangers of a centralized world. Whether it’s endless money-printing, censorship, or frozen bank accounts, decentralization gives power back to the people. As the masses realize how powerful cryptocurrency can be, I believe that governments will too. This is when privacy solutions will be more important than ever, keeping user identity anonymous from centralized organizations.

Parting thoughts

I’m very happy to be a part of BlockWallet and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
