Blank Wallet features beyond basic privacy (#5): Hardware wallet support
This post is the fifth part of a series in which we will explore and detail the upcoming features of the Blank Wallet which go far beyond basic privacy.
A private key is a critical piece of information used to authorize outgoing transactions on the blockchain network. Whoever has the knowledge of this key can spend the associated funds. This is why there has been a growing emphasis around the ecosystem for storing your cryptocurrency within a hardware wallet. Owning your private keys and storing them in a hardware wallet gives the user much more power and control over their private keys.
Why connect your hardware wallet to Blank?
Some sites may have integration with Blank but not with Trezor or Ledger wallets yet. Connecting your wallet with Blank, allows you to interact with those sites now! In addition, this helps developers, as it gives their users more options to interact with their protocol with less development work on their end.
There is a large userbase of crypto-enthusiasts who store their cryptocurrency within hardware wallets. Ledger alone has already sold over 1.5m wallets with users in 165 different countries and 100 resellers globally. It was a no-brainer integrating hardware wallet support for Blank Wallet as it allows us to tap into a larger market of users who are already concerned with privacy and security.
Shortly after the public launch, Blank Wallet will be integrating with Trezor and Ledger wallets. This will allow users to:
- Check account balances — ETH or Tokens stored on Trezor/Ledger wallets
- Sign transactions — For example: Send ETH and ERC20 tokens and collectibles, deploy contracts, etc.
- Sign messages to the blockchain
*Along with all the privacy features Blank has integrated
Note: Your private keys will always stay in your Trezor/Ledger. This allows any dApp that works with Blank Wallet to be used safely and securely with a hardware wallet.
There are a few benefits to using hardware wallets with Blank, the main ones being security and privacy:
Security
Hardware wallets do not use the internet to manage the private keys, which means your private keys are never exposed to the negative aspects of the internet. This means that there is no risk of key compromise or malware.
Privacy
Hardware wallets are designed to be used offline which means that you do not need to pass your private keys through the internet which will not only help to preserve privacy but also help to protect against keyloggers.
We were disappointed by the lack of privacy and security features available to people who wanted to hold their own cryptocurrency. The proliferation of crypto-jacking malware and data breaches means that we can no longer trust centralized entities to hold our cryptocurrency. Thanks to the power of open-source software, and the integration of hardware wallets into Blank’s protocol we can take back control of our cryptocurrency and build a better system.
About Blank Wallet
Blank is the most private, non-custodial Ethereum browser extension wallet.
Blank allows the user to easily interact with privacy smart contracts on Ethereum to hide the amounts and the origins of cryptocurrency held in a decentralized, non-custodial, and frictionless manner.
Blank solves the problem of privacy in crypto transactions. Each time you want to make a withdrawal, Blank will create a new wallet address for you with the amount of crypto you requested. This address originates from the smart contract, where everyone’s funds are pooled. All of this is achieved using cryptographic proofs to ensure that the user cannot be linked with the original depositing address.
With crypto transactions increasing, on-chain transaction privacy is being highly discussed to keep you safe from exposing yourself. Blank has developed a system that adds the ultimate protective layer to your crypto transactions while facilitating every function that other wallets offer.
Anyone can easily install Blank and start reaping the privacy benefits in no time at all. Besides the smart contract functionality, Blank wallet offers a higher level of privacy due to Tor integration. Upcoming functionality includes DeFi web3 integrations as well as support for Metamask Snaps Plugins to allow for seamless connectivity and usage.
Reclaim privacy on your Ethereum transfers. Go Blank.
