Blank Is Rebranding To BlockWallet
Blank Wallet is rebranding, and from this point on will be known as BlockWallet! Read on to learn more about our reasoning, what’s changed, and how it affects you. We’ll also be sharing some key updates and upcoming milestones, so stick around until the end of the article!
The name change
The only thing that is changing at this point is our name. Our logo and established branding will remain the same. The $BLANK token and contract address will also remain unchanged.
To celebrate our new name, we are launching a brand new website that delves into all aspects of the wallet and token. On the new website, you will be able to find an updated road map, a new tokenomics page, as well as a brand new addition: our compliance tool designed to generate compliance reports on-demand.
You can check out our new website here: https://BlockWallet.io
Be aware of potential scam attempts during this transitionary period. Impersonators may use our old or new brand to steal your funds. Always remember — BlockWallet representatives will never message you first, ask for your seed phrase or private key, or ask to synchronize your wallet.
Why the rebrand?
Changing company identity is a major decision, one that always comes after careful consideration and hours upon hours of brainstorming and planning. From day one, we wanted to build a convenient product that would allow users to find on-chain privacy without having to go through confusing processes and UIs currently offered on the market. As our team has been working on the product, we realized that this approach doesn’t only apply to privacy. We would love for our wallet to empower users with effortless security and ease of access to the variety of tools offered in the DeFi space. That being said, our commitment to privacy is going nowhere and will remain the centerpiece of our product.
Ultimately, we believe we can make a bigger impact and reach a broader audience if we apply our passion for privacy to other aspects of the wallet.
“Block” is a native term in the blockchain space, and it is something very foundational as far as the technology goes. We believe that privacy, security, and usability should be the foundation upon which user interactions are built-in Web3. This ethos summarizes why we decided to rename to BlockWallet.
What’s coming up next?
2021 was a really busy year for the BlockWallet team, and while there are many things that you already know about, we’ve kept a few things private (pun intended 😉). Here’s what you can expect from us in the coming weeks and months:
Launch Date
We are excited to tell you that tomorrow we’ll reveal BlockWallet’s mainnet release date!
NFT Drop
NFTs are here to stay and we are building features and integrations to support this future growth. Our users will be able to use our flashbot protection when shopping for NFTs to avoid being front-run and wasting precious gas. To celebrate this and show our future dedication towards the NFT community we’re planning to release a free NFT collection for our community members (Citadel members will be prioritized). The goal of the drop is to gain traction on social networks as a community, have some fun, and give back to people that have been supporting us since the very beginning. The NFTs will also be used in all of our marketing material moving forward.
Staking Site
Our community has expressed a clear desire for staking, and while you all know that we have had our staking dApp in progress for a few months, we are happy to reveal that we have started testing this internally. We will involve our beta testers to stress test the DApp going forward. The new staking platform will allow holders to stake $BLANK tokens for extra rewards.
In the meantime, you can always earn rewards from our liquidity rewards program on Unicrypt.
Community Merch Store
Wen hoodies? Sooner than you may think!
To support the rebrand, we are opening up a community merch store! One major issue with selling merch as a crypto project is data collection (names, addresses, payment info, etc.), and as you know, user data is something we don’t want to collect at all. So, like with anything else we do, our merchandise store will be decentralized. The store launch is planned to happen in February and will be the first iteration. Community members will be able to submit their own designs and monetize them.
Phishing Prevention Feature
The rising popularity of any new technology is always lucrative and inherently causes bad actors to look for ways to defraud people. In that respect, crypto is no different and currently, there is a huge issue of people falling victim to phishing websites (Bored Ape NFTs being stolen is just one example of this).
Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on a new feature that will make it very easy for you as a user to make sure you’re interacting with the official BlockWallet extension instead of a fraudulent one.
We believe this feature will help all of our users to avoid phishing attempts in the future, and we are very excited to showcase it. The planned launch date for this feature will be revealed in the future!
Built-in Swaps
Last but not least, swaps are coming to BlockWallet! Our swaps are going to come with many exciting benefits (when possible) such as default front-running protection, a lucrative fee structure, and more! Stay tuned for future updates on this feature and its planned release date.
